Project Overview

To support the installation of new boiler equipment at our client’s site, the existing RO Polishing assets needed to be relocated, rebuilt, and upgraded. The goal was to increase capacity for processing evaporator condensate (cow water) and to generate highquality polished water for reuse across the factory. This project also introduced the added complexity of polishing potable water through the same system, requiring enhanced design considerations.

The Challenge to Solve:

The client required continuous production of polished water while simultaneously freeing up the existing plant footprint to accommodate new boiler assets. This created both space and timeline constraints.

Additionally, integrating potable water and cow water into a shared RO polishing platform demanded careful engineering, particularly around pretreatment design, to ensure potable water could be safely processed through equipment originally configured for cow water applications.

The Solution:

SMS designed, built, and commissioned two independent RO Polisher skid arrays, each capable of processing 80 m³/hr of either potable or cow water feeds.

To ensure water safety and reliability, the system included:

  • Automatic backflushing prefiltration, protecting the RO membranes from fouling
  • PostRO UV disinfection, ensuring a consistently safe, highquality polished water output suitable for factory reuse

The dualskid solution provided operational redundancy, process flexibility, and a futureproof approach to meeting the client’s expanding waterrecovery needs.

The Result:

The project delivered a fully modernised, futureready RO Polishing plant that expanded processing capacity, enhanced waterrecovery efficiency, and maintained production continuity throughout the upgrade. The client now benefits from reliable, highpurity polished water, reduced environmental impact, and a flexible platform capable of handling both potable and cow water streams.
