Permeate hoses connect each membrane housing to the permeate header, enabling the safe and controlled transfer of permeate or filtrate product through the membrane system.

Designed for both performance and monitoring, these hoses play an important role in maintaining product quality and providing visibility into membrane effectiveness during operation.

 Why it matters

  • Each hose includes a sanitary sample point, allowing permeate to be tested for any carry over protein or other organics or ions. This enables monitoring of membrane performance across groups of membranes.
  • Clear observation of permeate flow allows operators to quickly identify cloudy permeate - an early indicator of membrane or membrane accessory issues.
  • Hose design supports early identification of leaking or underperforming membranes, helping reduce product loss and avoid larger costs.
  • Flexible connections allow for easier disassembly and reassembly during maintenance or plant inspections.

How it works

Permeate hoses connect the permeate outlet of each membrane housing directly to the permeate header, allowing filtered product to be transferred under controlled conditions. Integrated sample ports and transparent or semi-transparent hose construction enable operators to monitor permeate quality in real time during operation.

Ideal for:
  • Systems requiring reliable permeate transfer
  • Plants needing visibility of membrane performance
  • Maintenance teams wanting easier system reassembly
Common issues this solves
  • Leaks caused by poor fitment or rigid connections.
  • Limited visibility of permeate quality during operation

Frequently Asked Questions

Permeate tubes are part of the membrane element and can't be supplied unless a new membrane is offered. All other components can be supplied.

SMS flexible permeate hoses with sanitary sample points are made in 300mm and 450mm lengths. Other lengths can be made but there is a minimum order volume.

The shortest that we can make the hose is 220mm and this can only be installed in a STRAIGHT LINE, to prevent any kinking. Note: the plant would need to consider permeate header setup/removal when trying to remove/fit membranes. We have high minimum order qualities (300pcs) but if alternative length hoses were required with 1.5” Triclover ferrule ends, then we can technical add smaller shorter or longer hose volume into a batch of our standard 300 or 450mm length hoses.
